Blue Jays Sneak By Twins, 6-5
|
Minnesota center fielder Anthony Murphy was sensational. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Toronto beat the Twins, 6-5. Gabriel Agostini picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-0. Reinold Navarro was tagged with the loss. Derrick Smith converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Iestyn Murray was 1-3 with a walk for Toronto. The 26-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Reinold Navarro. It was his 27th RBI of the season.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Blue Jays manager KD Meehan, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
The American League East Division-leading Blue Jays have a record of 92-67.
