Fans of the Toronto Blue Jays who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Toronto win over the visiting Boston Red Sox, 13-4. Owen Hall started for the home team against Luinder Avila. Sean Thomas earned accolades for his performance. Luis Medina snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Luinder Avila suffered the loss.

Shortstop George Lombard Jr. made an impact for Toronto, when he swatted a 2-run double off Luinder Avila in the bottom of the first. For the contest, Lombard Jr. was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Thomas.
