Toronto beat Tampa Bay on the strength of starting pitcher Danny Valenzuela's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. The victory gives Toronto a record of 87-67.

Had Patrick Bailey not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Bailey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Blue Jays.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Valenzuela.
