Blue Jays Need Extra Frames to Get Past Bisons
The Toronto Blue Jays spoiled a good performance by El Paso designated hitter Sam Smith, bumping off El Paso, 6-5, at Rogers Centre. Smith went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Toronto reliever Garrison Purdy was the winner. His record is now 3-4. Carmen Mlodzinski took the loss. The Blue Jays lead the American League East Division by a game.

The Blue Jays got a clutch hit from designated hitter Chandler Simpson. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Blue Jays.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Toronto manager KD Meehan.
