Yankees Slap 12-3 Loss on Toronto
New York center fielder Theo Gillen contributed significantly to his team's 12-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Gillen, who finished 4th in the AL in stolen bases with 37 last year, went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Yankees. New York reliever Jeff Stone picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Manuel Perez was saddled with the loss. The victory gives the Yankees a record of 42-38.

The Yankees got a big hit from shortstop David Flores. Facing Toronto pitcher Owen Hall in the bottom of the eighth, Flores pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 11th home run of the season put the Yankees ahead, 11-3.

"We lit up the scoreboard," said New York manager Adam Morgan.
